Global Awareness

Donation protected

We are 12 high-school students who are trying to make a change in a community. We have been nominated for and accepted to Global Glimpse, a service learning experience, to tackle the social, political and economic challenges of our generation. We are extremely lucky to have been accepted to participate in a once in a lifetime chance such as this; statistics state that less than one percent of high school students have the opportunity to travel abroad. Not only will we be traveling to Esteli, Nicaragua but we will also help out the people in that community by teaching locals English, creating our own service project, and learning how we can bring our experience back to Brooklyn to improve our own communities at home. We can't wait!

ABOUT US

Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies (BCS) is a Title 1 school where about 70% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Our students come from all over Brooklyn. We are so excited Global Glimpse has partnered with our school to give our students this opportunity to explore who they are and what their role in the world might be. Thank you for your support in helping our students afford this life-changing experience!

Sarah: I've been teaching math at BCS for the past 7 years and am beyond thrilled to go to Nicaragua this summer with 12 awesome BCS 11th graders. I know we will all grow immensely together. Check out www.globalglimpse.org to learn more about our trip to Esteli, Nicaragua!

Chanei: I love English and aspire to be a psychologist when I get older. I love participating in Global Glimpse and can't wait to get a sense of how other people in a different place see things, and live their lives.

Justin: Hello I'm Justin, and I have been selected for global glimpse along with other students from my school. I have not been out of the country much, and with global glimpse I will also be improving my leadership skills. I have hope that this trip will make me a better leader and person.

Christian: Hi, I'm Christian. I have a deep love for Physics and I'm aspiring to be a theoretical physicist. I have been selected to participate in Global Glimpse and even though I haven't really traveled that much I feel am prepared to tackle this new adventure head on.

Angela: Hey guys! My name is Angela and just like you have been reading, I have also been selected to go abroad to Nicaragua. I feel very excited to be a part of this program and see the world. I hope to become a global citizen and change the world. My one wish is to help people and going on this trip will be my first step!

Maria: Hi, my name is Maria Robles and I am very excited to go to Esteli, Nicaragua. Global Glimpse means a lot to me because I want to help the world be a better place for everyone and help those in need. This would be a great start for my dream of being a nurse. The first step is helping others in need.

Andre: As an aspiring actor and author, I crave the experience to travel to another country. My biggest dream is to gain this new experience and see the world from this new point of view so that when I some day reach my level of success, I can be a force for change in the world.

Newaz: I have always been fascinated by the different cultures and morals of people around the world. I want to know what makes life so vibrant through a different set of eyes.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for your support!
