Hurricane Florence Recovery

My name is Janet Damiani Rushkowski. I live in Palm Harbor, Florida. I am collecting donations for my Mom, Mary Damiani. She lives in Fairfield Harbour, one of the communities hit hard by Hurricane Florence, located in New Bern, North Carolina. I am collecting donations for her so that she can replace items that were destroyed by the flooding in her house. Since there was over 2 feet of water inside her house, she will need to replace everything that was wet...all her clothes, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, bathroom items, furniture and carpeting. She has started to shop for new clothes because it is starting to get cold and she has no warm clothes. The only clothes she has are the ones she brought to Florida when she evacuated. I plan to mail her a check the first week of November. She will be moving to her temporary address she will be staying at while her house is rebuilt. It's taking her awhile to figure out where to stay, but I think she finally has a place. She will give me the address and I will mail her the donations next week. Mary's story.... She evacuated to my house in Florida and stayed with me until it was safe to return home. When she arrived, she was hit with the realization that her house was in the path of the Neuse River. The inside of the house was damaged by over 2 feet of water. Everything needs to be thrown out. She will need to buy clothes, furniture and kitchen items. She's 80 years old and now has to figure out how to rebuild. She is staying at a friend's house temporarily, while the house gets cleaned out. I live in Florida and have several amazing friends and coworkers who have offered to help her. I think she will be so touched by the outpouring of concern and assistance my friends have verbalized.
