I am desperately trying to some repairs to our home, making it not only functional and safe, but to accommodate 9 children and myself.
The amount in my gofundme is to cover, heating and air replacement and repairs. Many have asked the cost of a new home. I can’t burden anyone with that figure, as it a lot with the market these days. It’s approx $300,000 for a new, custom home- to accommodate all 10 of us. One day- we will have this. But right now, I just can’t do it alone.
My name is Crystal Boivin, from Spartanburg SC. I'm currently raising 9 kids alone, as a single mama. It's a long story but my sister is battling addiction and I took in her five incredible kids from social services where they were going to be separated and alone without family. My marriage ended due to an affair and he left when I was 7 mths pregnant with my youngest. - leaving me alone to figure this world out. And that's how I ended up here. It's hard for me to afford child care and babysitters, but I work as a special education teaching assistant Monday thru Friday 8 hours a day. Every seems to ask “why not find a better job.” It’s simple- I can’t afford a better job. Here- I am off nights and weeks. Holiday and summer- which allow me to be a parent, and work- as I can not afford 2nd shift child care, weekend and night care and summer care for so many. I’m also a full time college student, working on my teacher degree at USC Upstate.
I don't get any support from their mother or fathers except one- who pays $100 a week which covers gas back and forth to school each week. I can show proof. Every absence parent is on court child support. I have proof of non payments.
I'm up at 6am every day and the last in bed around 2am. I'm really doing the job of 6 parents/ all on my own. I am desperately needed a functioning home big enough to accommodate 10. I dream of a home with more space and bedrooms. But for now- until I can finish my degree I’m asking for help with home repairs to make what we have more functional for us. It’s not easy having 9 kids and myself in a 3 bedroom mobile home, but I’m determined to one day have our dream home. And I’ll never stop pushing toward that dream.
As you can imagine, with 9 kids- my house has some repairs that need to be done. Some are minor, however some are substantial. These include drywall, flooring, electrical, windows rtc. Winter is rapidly approaching and I need do this repairs sooner than later .
Our dream is to one day build us a home, one to accommodate our unique family.
As a family 9 kids and one adult, our dream is further away than we hoped for, but we will never stop chasing that dream. I know I won’t. They deserve the world and I’m going to one day make our dream come true. We have our dream home all planned out, a beautiful barndominium (cheaper than a traditional home), 4-5 bedrooms-in the middle of a couple acres, so my kids can have their own space, and make memories playing outside.
I know my situation isn’t typical. I know it’s easy to judge without knowing the full story. These kids deserve to be with family, their siblings and have at least one person they can count on- who will advocate and make sure they have the childhood they deserve. And I do that. Every. Day.
