David is suffering from a hereditary spastic paraplegia and is in need of walkaids to assist him, that health insurance will not cover. David is a caring and loving person that would do most anything for everyone and this is our turn to give back and help this amazing man in his journey through life .. Help us Help David!
Letter from David: "
I was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called (HSP). It is an upper motor neuron disorder that causes spasticity, stiffness in my legs and toe drop. This makes walking very difficult for me. Especially the toe drop. This causes poor balance and with the toe drop I frequently drag my toes, loose my balance, trip and even fall at times. An electronic device called "walkaide" is made to assist people like me who have toe drop. Walkaide goes on my leg and sends an electrical impulse in my leg muscle every time it senses my toes dropping. This impulse forces my toes to come up. It is unbelievable how well it works for me. I have been trying out the Dr.'s office walkaide the last few weeks and it has made my quality of life so much better. As most of you know I used to be very athletic. I still work hard in the gym to stay fit, and being able to use a walkaide on both legs will give me the opportunity to continue, to work, go to the gym, and walk. Walkaide is not covered by insurance and costs about five thousand dollars per device. I am hoping with the help and support of my friends and family I will be able to afford two walkaides and improve my quality of life"
