Catalina Channel for Plooschter Projet

Donation protected
After having conquered the English Channel, and having had to defer my Catalina Channel attempt for two years...

It is finally happening...

I will attempt to cross the Catalina Channel from Catalina island to the mainland of Los Angeles from the 16th to 17th August.

Again, I believe that these efforts should not be in vain so I will swim for a cause close to my heart and fundraise for the 'Plooschter Projet' based in Luxembourg.

It was set up by Yannick Lieners who was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia at the age of 25. His form of leukaemia can be treated with medication, but he decided to help others affected by the disease and, through his charity, tries to raise awareness for stem cell donations.

The money goes to different specific organisations that fight against cancer such as the Stefan Morsch Stiftung or the Televie. Furthermore, they donate some of their money to the Luxembourg Institute of Health to help fund their research on leukemia. Most importantly they use the money to fund their own info campaigns to encourage people to become stem cell donors.
