Hello friends!
As some of you know, in January I will be embarking on a journey that I hope will positively affect many lives, one orphan at a time. It was a huge decision at this stage in my life, but there is really no better time for me to do this - before settling into a new career, and I am asking for your help!
Through an organization called IVHQ, and in partnership with Tanzania Volunteer Experience, I will be working in an orphanage close to Arusha in Tanzania for 8 weeks. My daily tasks will include caring for and teaching children whose families can't afford to care for them nor send them to school. I will be staying with a host family for the length of my stay.
By donating to my page, you will be helping cover some of the fees associated with volunteering overseas. Funding will also allow for me to have extra luggage allowance and to fill that luggage with toys, musical instruments, books, and other things for the children. Many volunteers have said that they regretted not having extra money so they could sponsor some of the children to send them to school, to donate to the orphanage, or to purchase shoes or clothes in the city for all the children.
I invite you to come along with me by following my soon-to-be set up journal. I will be updating it as often as I can, but I'm not sure how often I'll be able to get to an internet connection!! I will post the link once it is set up.
