Hi. My name is Dena and I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cervical Cancer Feb. 14th. After my radical hysterectomy they discovered positive lymph nodes. Metastatic squamous cell carcinoma with lymphatic invasion. I haven't been able to work for years due to a spinal disorder(degenerative disk disease)bone spurs and advanced stage osteoarthritis. I'm still fighting for my Social Security Disability. It's beyond frustrating. 10 yrs ago I had my first spinal fusion with hardware, L4-5. My orthopedic surgeon has told me I need to extend my fusion at least up one. L3-4. The pain I deal with every day is overwhelming and has left me unable to work. I was waiting on my referral to a neurosurgeon when I got the cancer diagnosis. So you can imagine the devastation I felt with this new diagnosis on top of what was already a bad situation. No neurosurgeon will even meet with me because I have cancer and due to that cannot perform surgery on me. I've spent the last 4 yrs traveling back and forth to MD Anderson Cancer Center with my brother who's Stage 4 Melanoma. Those were very expensive trips, the first year alone going 3 out of 4 weeks a month. I can't even imagine what my parents are feeling with their only 2 kids having very scary cancer diagnoses. Those trips absolutely depleted all financial funds. I'm having a radical hysterectomy in 2 weeks (May 22nd) to give me a starting chance to fight this ugly disease. The cancer is already listed as highly suspicious for lymph-vascular invasion and could very well be considered Stage 3 after all the new pathology reports come back. After this surgery it'll be chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Five days a week for up to 6 weeks. I may very well have to stay in a hotel in Little Rock during the week while having radiation treatment. I'm not sure i can even drive myself back and forth and i know no one can take off that much time from work. Plain and simple I can't afford the travel expenses to and from my Oncologist (3 hrs. one way) or all the expenses that are already stacking up with everyday expenses. People always think of the medical bill's. And yes, they can be horrendous. But what you dont think about is how to keep your car from getting repossessed. Keeping your phone on because that's your life line with all your Dr.'s. Everyday expenses from gas to get to the Dr. and even food. The list goes on. I just don't have it. Those who know me know I HATE to ask for help. But I'm desperate and at my wits end right now. I need your help. Please donate to the cause and help me get to my cancer treatments and every day expenses. I sincerely appreciate all those that are supporting me while I take this journey into some unknown and scary things. And even if you can't donate could you please share this? Thank you all. #cervicalcancer #rarebutthere #cancersucks #kickingcancersass
