The Clausen family needs your help. This family of five was severely impacted by the economic downturn resulting in a dedicated provider losing his job. A carpenter (perfectionist by nature), Rich tried to give his family a safe home, provide for them the best he could, and build a life.
My sister Melinda, has three children ages 15, 13 and 12. They were recently evicted from their home after an 8 year foreclosure battle and they are now homeless, surviving on odd jobs and a walmart position that covers food, minimal clothing and a tracfone for emergencies.
They are unable to fix their vehicles, which prevents my brother-in-law from finding steady employment. My sister has a masters degree in teaching but cannot meet the latest teaching certification requirements. She is busy working trying to keep her children fed and does not have the financial buffer to allow her to get her student teaching hours in. Most of the available positions are unpaid; causing additional hardships if she pursued this in their current circumstance.
The waitlist for Section 8 federal housing assistance is around 3 years where they live, which necessitates that they live in the homeless shelter.
This family is in dire need of a place to live, a reliable vehicle that will permit them to find steady employment, and everything that goes along with preparing for a new school year.
As of right now, it is unclear where these children will go to school, nevermind how they will be able to afford the necessary clothes and shoes most need at the beginning of a school year.
This is not the childhood that these children should endure. If there is any way to change this tragedy into a fairy tale, it will only be possible by the generous donations of people like you and I. Let's try to reach as many people as we can and donate what we are able, to bring hope to a family that currently sees only dark days ahead.
