A 2nd Chance for Jason & Jessica Smith

Jason & Jessica Smith have been married for 6 wonderful years. They are elementary school teachers at Gould Elementary School in Savannah, GA. They both are very passionate about children and hoped to one day have a child of their own. They were so excited when they found out in July 2013 that their 5+ years of infertility had come to an end and that they were expecting a baby due in April. On November 8, 2013 they found out that they would have a precious miracle baby boy. His name would be Benjamin Sawyer Smith. He would be their first and most likely only child but they were so thankful that God finally gave them the gift that they had been trying and praying so hard for. Unfortunately, very early on the following Sunday morning Jason rushed Jessica to the hospital with bleeding and pains. Their whole world was turned upside down when they discovered that Jessica had gone into premature labor and had dilated to 6 cm in a matter of hours. This caused the amniotic sac to drop partially into the birth canal. The doctors broke the devastating news to them that if little Benjamin came into the world at only 20.5 weeks old that they would not be able to save him. Jason posted a prayer request on Facebook and in a matter of 2 days it received 75,000 likes and many encouraging stories and prayers from Facebook friends all over the United States. Many people were pulling for little Ben but in the end God had a plan and Benjamin went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at about 2:33 am. He came into the world weighing about 14.2 oz and was 10 inches long and lived for about an hour before passing away in his parents arms. The parents, family, and friends are all very devastated by the loss of Benjamin. We are asking for help to give Jason and Jessica another chance at parenthood. They enjoy teaching but the salary is not going to be enough to pay off the existing IVF payments and medical bills let alone pay to try for a second time or adopt.
