Help Me Bring My Mommy to the States

Hello all!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my page and to learn about my story.

My name is Dzana Susic, I am 22 years old, and I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina, currently studying and living in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I am a graduating senior at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. My graduation is in less than two months, and my only wish is to have my mom walk across the stage with me when I receive my diploma. Unfortunately, due to financial problems she won't be able to come here and watch me graduate.

Ever since I was a little girl, I learned to appriciate life; but I had to learn it the hard way. I was born in 1991, right before the Bosnian war. I do not remember much of my early childhood, but the memories I do have are not the most pleasant ones...I remember the sound of grenades, the sound of helicopters circling above our house, and watching my mom scared to death, breathless running towards the house from the filed in which she used to grew vegetables so we would not starve.  I remember the first time I tried chocolate, I was 5 years old.

My dad is a war veteran. He gave the best years of his life to protect us and the country from our enemies. He did not have a job for over 8 years after the war was over. For my family, the life after the war seemed much harder than during it. A lot of corrupted criminals got in possesion of most of the federal buildings, and most of the companies got privatized, leaving Bosnia with the unreal unemployment rate of over 40%. It is been almost 20 years since the war ended and the people in Bosnia are still hungry.

All my life I was grateful to God that He saved my life and the lives of my family, and I promised to Him that I will always go an extra mile in because of His grace. I always, wanted to be the brightest spot in my parents' lives. With all my hard work I got the chance to go to the most awesome high school, United World College in Mostar; There I lived and studied with children from over 50 countries of the world. I learned to build and promote peace among people, and I learned that one of the best and fastest way to do so is through education.

In 2010, I came to the United States as an international student. My hard work and dedication paid off, again! Here at Methodist University I majored in Business Administration and Health Care Administration.
I hope one day my story inspires other children who are in struggle, and it helps them not give up on their dreams. I want to make a positive change in the world by doing the best I can with all I have to help others live better. I pray that His leading hand will guide me on the straight path now and always.

But for now, I humbly ask for YOUR help to see my mom; to show her where I live, to show her all she has accomplished through every day she sacrificed to give me everything even when she was left with nothing. She never traveled out of the country and her youth was taken away from her by the bloody war. I might not reach my goal and bring her to my graduation, because the time is short, BUT please help me bring her here anyways...because she deserves it!

Thank YOU again for your time and all your help! I cannot do it without YOU!

Love & God bless!!! <3
