Food For Workers

I want to do something good for the people who break there backs to build the condos and shops going up in downtown Sarasota. I work as a driver for one of the many temporary labor offices in Sarasota that provide the workers who do the jobs that nobody wants to do. These aren't the skilled craftsmen who make 20-30$ n hr. Im talking about the men and women who work the brooms and shovels. The ones who go to work dirty because sometimes bad habits lead to homelessness, but regardless of there habits they wake up before most of us to go sit and wait to hopefully get out to work. Sometimes it can be an hr drive so they don't start making money until about 7 sometimes as late as 8 or 9. Then the wait for a ride from a probably full vehicle to end the day at about 5-6ish. All for $8.25 an hr for only an 8hr day. After taxes and fees for transportation to work these poor souls might have 50 bucks to show for 12 hrs of there life. There are many people we see everyday standing on a corner holding a sign saying "Will Work For Food".  Well what i want to do is feed the people who are already working. Regardless of what habits they allowed to destroy there lives they are people trapped in a perpetual cycle that is almost impossible to break free from. Everyday is the same struggle and the simplest most frustrating thing is most of the people breaking there backs to build our town dont even have a sandwich for lunch. It makes me sick. So what i think we should do is provide a sandwich and a gatorade for every grunt, every laborer that regardless of how they feel what they look like or even where or how much they slept the night before pulled themselves out of the only comfortable spot they have and go build and dig and sweep and clean and go hungry while doing it. The only people who are going to help are you and me. The ones that take the time to think of others without contempt or disdain or preconceived notions that they did this to themselves so "Why should I feel bad." I should feel bad because we all have habits that negatively affect our lives, but if your willing to push thru what ever personal hell you endure every day and break your back in the heat and rain for less pay than any of us would accept then you deserve to not do it hungry. Period. And you shouldn't have to spend ur last 5 bucks either. So what I'm doing is handing out lunches to everyone that goes to work. I'm starting this on Mon March 26th. I feel if your willing to work no matter how u feel. Then you deserve to not do it hungry.
