In response to Typhoon Haiyan I have put together a basic aid package which will cost you $7.50 (generously subsidized by some local companies in Boston). It includes soap, toothpaste, hand gels, basic medicines, a bar of chocolate, playing cards and a card which will have a message of support written inside. In order that they arrive as soon as possible, the packages are being shipped via LBC to the province of Leyte on Monday 18th of November and distributed by the Red Cross.
Every $7.50 donated will help send one package to someone in the Philippines. The goal is to send 100 packages.
Update: We hit the 100 package target within twelve hours of launching the campaign. The new target is to reach $1000. Thanks so much. Your support is amazing.
Update: As as 10.50am (Eastern time) we have hit our second target of $1000. Thank you all once again. Your generosity is inspiring. The new target is to raise $1500. This will enable 200 aid parcels to be sent to the Philippines Red Cross; double the initial goal. Please give what you can.
Update: At 9.30am (Eastern time) on the 14th of November we reached the $1500 target. We have been in contact with aid workers on the ground in Cebu who have reported a huge shortage of drinking water and basic medicines. They are overjoyed with the support being offered by everyone and hope it will reach them as soon as possible. Lets try push for $2500 by Monday evening. Please keep spreading the word and thank you again.
Please share this page with your friends via Facebook or Twitter. If you are part of a corporate business or organisation in the Boston region, please get in touch if you are able to donate any items which can be included in the parcels.
