Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

JazakAllah Khair for your time to visit the page.

Valdosta Islamic Center is located in the city of Valdosta, Georgia (USA) within close proximity of the Valdosta State University. The Muslim community in Valdosta has set a goal to purchase a property in order to move to a larger facility to accommodate growing need of the community. This new property will be the Masjid, Center of Social and Educational activities of the greater Valdosta, South Georgia, North Florida and surrounding Muslim communities.

The Muslim population of Valdosta and nearby cities is approximately 250. Due to small capacity the existing masjid building cannot accommodate more than 50 families in Jummah prayers. The property price is $290,000. Alhamdulillah by the help of Allah (SWT) and with the generous support of community members of Valdosta, as well as support from Muslim communities in Florida and Georgia $200,000 has been raised. We need just $90,000 more by December 31, 2013 to complete the purchase of new property. This is where we urgently need your help.

History of Valdosta Islamic Center
The history of Muslim Community Center of Valdosta goes back to 1986. The small building that currently accommodates the need of daily prayers and Jummah was originally a facility that was rented out for social events and later as a day care center. A couple of Muslim families felt the need of a place of worship and they got together and approached the landlord of the building to seek permission to turn it into a Muslim cultural center. Upon approval of the landlord, the small rental hall became the mosque for Muslim community in greater Valdosta area in 1986.

Due to the immigration of families, from both the U.S. and abroad, and visiting Muslim students from various parts of the world, the Muslim community grew, quickly surpassing the building's capacity. Eid prayers can no longer be held inside the masjid, and for several years the Eid prayers are held in external rented facilities.
Alhamdulillah by the help of Almighty Allah (SWT) the Muslim community of Valdosta recently undertook an effort to purchase a property near the Valdosta State University. The location, the building itself, and the space surrounding the building provide an ideal setting for the Valdosta Muslim community to grow, worship and thrive as a united community in order to carry out social and educational activities.

As noted, the generosity of Muslim families, locally and regionally, has resulted in contributions totaling $200,000. In order to close the sale, an additional $90,000 is needed by December 31, 2013. This is where we are counting on your help.

When we move into the new building, inshAllah we will be able to provide more capacity, nicer facilities, better experience in practicing our Deen for not just Valdosta Muslim community but also other nearby Muslim communities from South Georgia and North Florida who join for Friday prayers and other social occasions .

We have set, as our fund-raising target a total of $117,000, which will cover the costs as follows:

Remaining payment for the property purchase: $90,000
GoFundMe service charge: $7000
Renovation of facility after purchase of the property: $20,000
We need your wholehearted support to reach this target by December 31,2013.
