The cost of an actual well is roughly $220AUD, the exchange rate plays a factor along with commission fee's that are associated with using GoFundMe & Paypal services. Any extra amounts (a few dollars) left over after exchange goes to Heang, to help him pay for petrol costs as he scouts for more villages.
I stopped the GoFundMe fundraising page for the funding of wells, due to the fees associated, however if you are still interested in donating for a well, do not hesitate to contact me.

I started collecting when the Australian Dollar and US Dollar were parallel, now the Australian dollar has drop to only equate to about 77 US cents.

Hi family, friends & all others who stumble across this page,
It's my birthday again, however instead of splurging and wasting money on a party, food and drinks. I've decided to see if I can instead raise some money. The support for this event, has been truly an amazing spectacle and is definitely the best Birthday Gift, which may never be ever outdone.
I'm looking into doing something a little different this time from my previous trips. In the past I've given out school supplies to kids on both a small scale classrooms in Kampong Cham to a whole primary school in rural Prey Veng & taught English in a rural village in Battambang and raised $2500 for Geraldine Cox's Sunrise Children's Orphanage in Phnom Penh & Sihanoukville. This time I'm looking into organising 10 Wells for 10 Families and their neighbours, so they have access to Clean Drinking Water.
Heang, a friend based in Siemreap is a renown off-the-beaten track tour guide since the mid 1990's. Who not only takes tourists to the major attractions, but feels more at home when his on the back roads in rural Cambodia visiting the many ancient ruins and cities that lie scattered in the countryside void of any tourists.
Over the last 4 years has arranged for around 80 wells to be constructed for families who didn't have access to clean running water. Usually families have to hike through rice paddy fields to a faraway water supply. The funds for these wells were mostly originating from Norway, so I figured what a better way to start 2013, with a bang of 10 wells
I was very surprised to find out how inexpensive it was to construct a well. All funds raised during this cause goes directly to build the actual wells. Unlike charity organisations there is no "admin fees" that are added to the costs. At only $220 (Direct Deposited/Cash) per well which includes drilling, labor for construction and price of materials (the pump, cement etc.) it is a small price to help provide & pay for clean running water. (If money is being paid through Paypal or GoFundMe, I do ask that an extra amount be included for Paypal and GoFundMe fees)
During my trip I plan to attend as many well drilling's and constructions as I can, but the remaining wells will be left for my friend to manage as I only have a very short stay in Cambodia this time round.
There is no obligation or pressure to sponsor/donate for a whole well, but if you choose to that would be GREAT!. If you can only spare a small amount that is greatly appreciated as well. Donations for 1/3 or 1/2 a well will still get your name engraved on the well. For Smaller donations I'll have to see if we can engrave more names in an appropriate way. ^_^
Details of where the wells are situated (Province, Commune and which village) will be provided along with photo's once the well have been drilled and constructed. I also hope to arrange and get GPS co-ordinates for the location of the wells as well.
Feel free to ask family and friends if they also want to build a well...This event is a free open public event.. The More the better!
Money can be given to me in person, or Direct Deposited just contact me for details.
Just to be clear, there is no Party or anything like that, the date specified is the date I hope to get final numbers of how many wells!
