5 - 3 - 8 Emergency Relocation Support

For legal reasons, the information that we can provide about 5-3-8 is intentionally tame and vague.

We are the remaining tenants of 5 3 8. After years of expensive legal battles to keep this space livable for those in need of affordable rent and those passionate about supporting all-ages community projects, we are losing this unique place that we’ve been so fortunate to call home. It is possible that you’ve lived in 5 3 8 and called it home, too. Maybe you have stayed here, played here, or seen some of the most unhinged bands ever here. Maybe you can just empathize with a clutch of people who are being obligated to leave their home.

While our preference has often been to host benefits to raise money in situations like this, this is no longer an option. We have been told we need to leave in 6 weeks which has created a financial crisis for many of us. We can't say here how many people are remaining here at this time but the number is considerable. We must ask you directly to help us fund relocation after we are required to leave.

5 3 8 has been an important space for many people for many years in many ways. The (formerly) decadent/degenerate hallways had handwriting, art, vibrant colors; all representative of freedom, and confinement, and life and losing your mind a little bit and death, and dying and joy and silliness, and grief. It has been magic, and it is being ripped from all of us. Maybe you loved it as much as we have. During our time here, we’ve opened our home to share it with you and anyone else who was searching for something or simply came to witness the chaotic endeavors of musicians and artists of all types from all over the world. Our hearts are broken that we cannot share our space with you all, even one more time.
