Friends of Forest Manor

The residents of Forest Manor Apartments in West Chester, PA are being faced with sudden relocation. The apartment complex was sold back in August, but the residents that make up the 61 units were not notified until the beginning of October. The owner collected the rent and then told the families they must vacate their homes. Some residents were given until November 30th to move out, but other families were only given 10 days depending on their lease agreement.

There are 32 students from Hillsdale Elementary School that make up 21 of the families from Forest Manor who are currently scrambling to find new housing. Sadly, many of the families will be forced to move out of the Hillsdale boundaries. Some are facing possible homelessness.


The biggest obstacle they are currently facing is coming up with security deposits and first month's rent for a new home. With very little time, and most of the families in a low income situation, putting together this amount of money is just not feasible. Despite a small relocation stipend that some families might have received, they are still having difficulty with security deposits plus rent.


These Hillsdale families could use our help. The teachers, staff, students, and parents of Hillsdale Elementary School have teamed up to collect moving supplies and gift cards for our families.


Monetary donations are now being collected to help these families secure leases for new homes. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
