Help For Baby Joseph And His Family

Baby Joseph was born on December 12th at 1:57am at 6lbs 9oz. His mommy Alexis was in labor for 2 days. When it was time for Joseph to come out his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, he had no heart beat, and did not breathe for 7 minutes. After he was resucussitated he started having seizures. He was immediately transferred to NICU. Alexis had a normal pregnancy and this was completely unexpected being that she was very healthy. Joseph has widespread brain damage and he will need occupational and physical therapy. His outcome is unknown...he will need to reach milestones. He will need special care 24/7. Poor Joseph is now at the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. For days the family could only touch him through little holes in his incubator. As of today this is what they know... There is damage to many parts of the brain. The goal is to be able to bring him home by Christmas but the swelling on his brain has to go down, he has to be able to breathe on his own, and eat without a feeding tube. Alexis has decided to put college on hold for now so she can concentrate on caring for Joseph. She is expected to go back to work at the end of January but that is up in the air right now. Alexis did save up some money for her leave but that money is running out because there are additional, unexpected expenses due to this terrifying and heartbreaking situation she's in. Alexis always tries to do things financially on her own but, this is just beyond what most people can handle. You're prayers are absolutely needed and welcomed at this time. Also, mommy Alexis's bills continue to pile up as she remains by her sons side. Between gas, food, bills and not being able to work this poor girl is drowning. Anything will help this little family at this time. Thank you.
