OLD TOWN PORTOLA EVENT CENTER (A 501(C) (3) Corporation)
The small community of Portola (population 2,000) is located on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in northern California. The town, and the surrounding area in general, has been in a slow economic decline in recent years. In an effort to turn that situation around a group of unpaid local volunteers have joined together to develop a piece of property on the major shopping street in town. They are now in the process of creating an outdoor event center that will become the major focus in the rejuvenation of the entire area.
To date local citizens and businesses through donated cash, labor and materials have contributed 75% of the cost to fund the construction of the event center. We’re reaching out to the general public at this time to assist in raising the additional 25% needed to complete the project and open for business this fall.
Those who contribute between $100 and $999 will be recognized with a personally engraved brick that will be installed as an integral part of the entry walkway. Those contributing $1,000 or more will be recognized on a scroll in the kiosk at the park entrance. They will also receive an engraved brick. At this time your financial assistance is vital if this project is going to succeed.
