Mexicali Children In Need

Hola Familia!It’s that time of the year again and we are very excited to come together for our annual fund raiser, Granito De Arena, to help Mexicali’s needy children and their families! Last year, your donations helped us raise over $3,000 to buy 800 lbs of beans, 600 lbs of rice, potatoes, bread and multiple canned food items to feed 100 families. The funds raised were also used to build 200 care packages for 200 homeless men and women in Mexicali! Mexicali is a border town located immediately across the border from Calexico, California (2hrs. east of Tijuana).   The city has a population of approximately 936,985 of which 19,055 habitants live in extreme poverty without access to food. The weather in Mexicali is rather harsh; it is the hottest region in Mexico and one of the hottest cities in the world with temperatures ranging from +110° F in the summer to -40° F in the winter for families living in cardboard or plywood homes. This year, our goal is to reach the same amount of children and families with groceries and warm clothing such as jackets and blankets before Christmas. These families also need shoes, baby food, school and supplies. Though we like to focus on the bare necessities that will help these children get through the winter months; We also want to hand out toys and give these children the joy of opening a gift on Christmas Day!Our target date is Saturday, December 1, 2018 but we will not be able to accomplish this goal without your help.
