Be The Change #kenya2014

As I am making all of these positive changes in my life and really getting involved with different people and organizations here at home, I decided I wanted to see what it was really like to be in a third world country and first hand see how the people are getting by and fighting to survive daily. With that being said, I made the choice to go to Kenya and work in an orphanage for a couple of weeks. Children are simply amazing. Regardless how tough of a situation they are faced with and the odds that are against them, they always manage to keep a smile or show the light in their eyes that there is hope. These kids are their countries future and I feel it is up to us to guide them, show them, give them the tools, infect them with love and hope; so that they have something to look forward to!
I am leaving for Nairobi on January 12 and will be living with a host family for 2 weeks and working in one of their many orphanages. Even though this is me volunteering my time out there, there are still costs that must be paid; most importantly the flight and the Program Fee. The Program Fee includes my stay with a local family, meals that the family will be providing me, transportation (most importantly to and from the airport. Safety first!), and my in-country support. I would also love to be able to raise additional funding to give to the orphanage when I arrive.
This is a crazy adventure for me and so far the support and feedback has been unreal and greatly appreciated! Anything will help towards this trip Kenya. #beTheChange #getKim2Kenya
