Hello there to all our friends, family, and friends that we just haven’t met yet! This GoFundMe has been put together to help support a wonderful person in our community. Marie is an extremely hardworking woman from Texarkana, TX who is devoted to her family, her pets, and her friends. She is one of those people who has a positive influence on anyone that she interacts with, and is a beacon of joy and light to those of us who know her personally.

In 2023, Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer when a biopsy returned malignant. Her doctor in Texarkana referred her to UAMS medical center in Little Rock, AR for care and chemotherapy treatments, which is a four hour round trip by car. Nearing the end of her cancer treatments, Marie became gravely ill, and it was discovered that she has a rare blood disease that had been triggered by the chemo, which caused severe, life-threatening blood clots in her lungs. She had to undergo two separate procedures to remove all of the clots, and had to stay hospitalized at UAMS while she recovered each time, totalling three major hospitalizations.

Doctors at UAMS discovered that Marie had lost the ability to walk due to the blood clots, and sent her to a rehab facility in Little Rock to regain her mobility. While she was in the rehab facility, her doctors recommended against a double mastectomy due to the risk of further reducing her mobility. Marie spent around a month and a half over the holidays at the end of 2024 and early 2025 in that rehab facility before she was finally released from their care.

Now that she’s home, Marie has been working on her PT diligently, and has finally gotten the clearance for her double mastectomy. She also continues to travel back and forth to Little Rock for her appointments and treatments with assistance in transportation by her friends and family. Naturally, Marie has been unable to work during this time, which is why we are asking for help from the community. Donations will go towards Marie’s medical costs, transportation costs, daily living expenses and bills, as well as towards pet food for her beloved animal family.

There is nothing more important in the whole world to Marie than her family. When she lost four siblings recently in the last few years, the dedication and strength that she provided to support her surviving family was admirable. We’re hoping to garner that same level of support and care for Marie during this challenging period of life, so she can regain the independence at home that she misses so dearly.
