At Schenectady Urban Farms we have big dreams of a green and vibrant Schenectady and we know the years ahead will be tough for many people. Urban Farms can provide food security, green space and sequester significant amounts of carbon.
We need your help! Schenectady Urban Farms are 3 small farms in the city of Schenectady totaling 1.3 acres. We have been farming in Schenectady since 2012 and have a Community Orchard at Vale Cemetery. We are a small very grassroots organization. We are currently collaborating with Schenectady Farm Bureau, Schenectady School District and CREATE studios Schenectady, to bring more programs to youth in the coming year as we provide more opportunities to grow and provide food.
We NEED to RAISE $7,500 in order to better provide programs and comfortable working conditions for city residents and youth. We hope to build two additional pavilions, a rabbit run, chicken house and a small greenhouse.
Your donation will help grow stronger, greener communities in the city of Schenectady! Monies will go towards supplies to build structures and equipment for the farms. Our new structures will be designed and built by members and volunteers.
To show our thanks for your support, we are offering products and plants from our farms. These are a limited supply and unless noted, items sent January 2021.
$25 donation: Friend of the Groundhogs. In thanks for your support we’ll send you Peppermint Lip Balm made with our own healing Calendula oil.
$50 donation: Bunny Keeper. In thanks for your support we’ll send you a 1 ounce tin of our Herbal Healing Salve made with plants long known for their healing qualities.
$100 and up donation. Honey Farmer. In thanks for your support we’ll provide you a Garden in a Bag in May 2021. Bags will contain 8 plants we have started from seed, and have found to grow well in our area. Bags will include include tomato and pepper plants as well as other veggies and herbs, tbd. Local pickup or delivery only.
We would like to ensure you get your promised incentives. We can drop items off at your home or mail them to you. If you are receiving a "garden in a bag", we will email you the May pick-up dates in early April. The only information we are given from the Go Fund Me Site is your name and donation amount. If you would kindly email [email redacted] and let us know the best way to get you your thank you item.
