Help the Kids of New Hope Haiti Mission!

On October 17, 2013 nine Masters of Public Health Students from the Health Behavior Department at UNC Chapel Hill are heading to Port au Prince, Haiti. We'll be spending time with the residents and staff at New Hope Haiti Mission, a children's home filled with 21 fantastic kids and teens.
Along with the work we'll be doing while actually in Haiti, we're fundraising to further support New Hope and the wonderful work it does all year round. This money in no way supports our travel costs or needs and all of it will go to directly helping the children and staff of New Hope.
Some examples of needs we're hoping we can help fill:
$25 can buy a pair of shoes for a child. The kids need new shoes for school and it is best to buy them in Haiti to support the local economy and help the kids learn to shop on a budget.
$300 can send a neighborhood child to school for a year- tuition, uniform and books. While schooling for the kids at New Hope is covered, the staff there are hoping to support additional neighborhood kids so that they too can go to school.
$1,600 can help secure New Hope's fencing with additional cinderblocks and razor wire. This keeps the kids safe from intruders and unwanted observers.
$10,000 can pay New Hope's rent for the next calendar year. While this is a lofty goal, we know that January is coming soon and anything we can contribute will help.
