TROY's Bears Because We Care Project
Social Work, Nursing and Human Services students attending Troy University have decided to join the chorus of support for the people of Texas and Louisiana impacted by Hurricane Harvey, by engaging in a Service Learning Project. During times of crisis, people need everything—food, water, shelter, transportation, health care, personal items, clothing, and comfort. Troy’s Bears Because We Care Project focuses on providing COMFORT to children negatively impacted and/or displaced by a disaster. Children facing crisis benefit greatly from having a comfort items, such a Teddy Bear, and these items are often lost during a storm. Our goal is to collect Bears and take them to children in Texas and Louisiana because we recognize feelings matter… and caring is what we do. Each $10.00 donation we receive will accomplish two things: 1) A Troy’s Bears Because We Care Project Teddy Bear will be delivered to a child in Texas or Louisiana with a Note of Inspiration from YOU; and 2) We will make a CARE BOX filled with personal items and deliver it to local shelters in Texas and Louisiana to people in need. The collection, packing, and distribution of these items will be done by TROY’s Social Work, Nursing and Human Services students and faculty, as a Service Learning Project. Please support this effort. Together, as partners, we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in Texas and Louisiana.
