I'm going to Ghana!

I've been invited to go with my Boston Children's Hospital cardiac team on their annual mission trip to Ghana this November! Every year the team of Hearts and Minds of Ghana, made up of cardiologists, cardiac nurses, respiratory therapists, and volunteers (me!) head to Ghana for about two weeks to perform cardiac surgeries on children who, without these surgeries, may not survive.

Over 300 children will be seen in clinic and evaluated for surgery. Less than 20 will be eligible during this year's trip. As a volunteer, my job will be to help keep the children "busy" and help them become better acquainted with medical equipment while they wait to be evaluated in clinic.


Your donations will help to purchase toys that will be given to the patients after surgery, as well as items for the children to play with and take home from clinic. I've created a wish list of the items that I would like to bring with me. In addition, your donations will help support my flight expense.
