Ethiopia October

We are traveling to Ethiopia in October to work with momma's through an organization called Hope for Korah. We are also looking for local artisans to work with and purchase items to work in fair trade.
We are women motivated to move and not stand still. Serving is what we're made for. We never thought we would feel at home in a mud hut and dirt floor. We never thought we would want to go and sit with kiddos who had runny noses, or were dirty and sick. We never thought we would want to sit next to a woman dying of TB or the HIV+ momma just wanting to give her, her dignity back . Reassuring her that we see her and her children. Or sit next to a woman with leprosy with eyes devoid of hope as she holds her 1 month old baby in a stifling hot semblance of a home. That they are valued and treasured. Wanting to snuggle up to some little person because he/she was left alone for one reason or another. Breaking down doors and taking children away from men/people who are asserting and abusing their power over them.
Our eyes were opened by doing the things we never thought we would want to do. To the things so many of us say I can throw some money at it and someone else will do the hard work. Never getting our hands dirty. Yet we traveled, we fell in love, the people we met are now tattooed on our hearts. So, here we are. Confused by the change and yet this new way of seeing the world is a constant thorn in our side. Wanting to do more and watching as people we've called friends call us radical. Fanatics. Eventually losing them as friends because we are too much. Listening to them say, you can't make a difference. We believed them until recently.
We decided to stand up, band together and fight. We have a purpose. We have a journey that we are embarking on together. We will have the naysayers fall on deaf ears. There is work to be done. Little ones to watch over. We will give them a safe place. We will be used to help make them whole. We will give them the hope of a future because we have been given that ourselves. We are women with a passion.
We are so very thankful for the supporters and fighters that have come alongside us! We love the connections and amazing family of passionate people that stand with us! Will YOU stand with us too?!
