Hello, my name is Mikel. I am creating this Go Fund Me Page for my Mother, Kristin Lish.
Kristin has been battling Pancreatic Cancer for the past year. Kristin also has a broken back (probably caused by radiation/chemo and osteoporosis). When Kristin was diagnosed simultaneously with pancreatic cancer and Type 2 diabetes last year it was overwhelming. Kristin had to stop working to relocate from Idaho to Utah to get treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She has spent the last year exhausting her energy in efforts to remain alive.
Kristin has had several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation but has been unsuccessful in shrinking the tumor so that she would qualify for Whipple surgery. The radiation caused several GI bleeds that have put her in emergency needing a total of 9 blood transfusions. For now, this is constantly in need of monitoring as the GI bleeds are not expected to heal soon leaving her to recover from anemia. She is also in treatment with a chiropractor and physical therapist to continue to try to heal her back. In efforts to keep the cancer from growing and to recover from the harsh effects of her treatments, Kristin has received alternative treatments and supplements that have helped with her energy level and her hope.
As anyone who knows Kristin would expect, she is facing this diagnosis with her characteristic tenacity, pragmatism and bravery. She’s always very giving of herself to help anyone in need and even though she fought us on this, we told her to accept the help that people want to give. We are all amazed by the prayers and support that has been shown to her and all of us thus far.
Even during this awful time, Kristin still remains positive, full of faith and happiness. Our purpose for starting this GoFundMe page is to alleviate the stress and burden of past and upcoming medical bills on top of the loss of wages. Any amount will make a difference and we appreciate all who are praying and keeping Kristin and our family in their thoughts. Thank you so much.
