Food Drive and Raffle-Turkey Bowl

I know I wrote many of you last year to see if your establishment could help out with a very worthy cause. I thank many of you who were able to help us with my request. For those who were unable to help, I understand and want you to all know we still support your establishments. I hope you will be able to help out this year.
My name is Mark Ivers and I have lived in the town of Arlington Heights for 26 years. For the last 16 years, I and about 100 other people have participated in a Turkey Bowl/Food Drive on Thanksgiving morning. It is a great event and we usually get about 40 families that come out. It has become a tradition for most of us. We collect food and also have a raffle to support PADS---what is PADS?
Journey from PADS to HOPE assists men, women and families in the northwest suburbs who have become or are at risk of becoming homeless.
Focusing on intervention and prevention, the HOPE Day Center offers guests mental health support, job counseling and help in securing permanent residence. As the days get colder, Journeys from PADS to HOPE opens 19 shelters, each providing a warm place to sleep and have hot meals. Many of the people who participate in our Turkey Bowl/Food Drive volunteer at some of the shelters, like St. James Church and Our Lady of Wayside Church in Arlington Hts.
We are looking to raise money again this year and we had a raffle last year with many items from your establishments. We raffled off baskets filled with items from establishments like yours and we raised over $3000 for the charities listed below- We would take anything you may offer-gift cards, hats, tee shirts, autograph sports items, even gift baskets themselves that we could put items in baskets for the selling of tickets for the raffle. The Daily Herald even wrote a story about our event the day after Thanksgiving a few years ago. We raised over $3,000 last year and a total of $8,000 for charities over the last several years.
