Issy's Camp Borneo Expedition 2020
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Issy and I've recently been given this once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Borneo for 4 weeks, with other pupils from my school in Maidstone ,in the summer of 2020.
We will be spending 4 weeks in different communities in Borneo where we will be getting the chance to live and work with the local teams. During this adventure, I will be:
- Digging foundations, decorating, building classroom furniture and creating a playground area for a kindergarden in Bongkud.
- Developing community amenities which would include installing bathrooms, laying bricks, building and making furniture in Mantanani.
- Habitat conservation which would include tree planting, wildlife monitoring along the Kinabatangan river and seed collection.
Being able to take part in this trip, I will be able to put myself out of my comfort zone and place myself into different situations which wouldn't be available back home in England. With this trip, I will be able to improve my teamwork skills, patience, communication skills and leadership skills.
This trip costs £4500 in total, which is a lot of money which I will part fund with some of the money I earn during my part-time job, charity events that the school and I will be organising (expect some cake making!) and I will be asking for businesses and personal donations to sponsor me to reach my target to take part in this unbelievable trip.
If you would like to read more information about the expedition and the team I will be going with (Camp International), please use the link below:
