❤️ Help 3-Year-Old Twins Oliver & Mia Through the Fight of Their Lives
Oliver and Mia are just three years old.
Three.
At their age, life should be about toys, cartoons, playgrounds, messy dinners, bedtime stories and deciding which pair of shoes they absolutely refuse to wear that morning.
It shouldn’t be about chemotherapy.
It shouldn’t be about brain tumours.
It shouldn’t be about CT scans, MRI scans, hearing aids, operations and hospital corridors.
And a mum shouldn’t have to watch both of her three-year-old children go through all of this.
But this is everyday life for Oliver, Mia and their mum, Sarah.
And we’re hoping that by telling their story, enough people might come together to make the incredibly difficult road ahead just a little bit easier for them. ❤️

❤️ MEET OLIVER
Oliver is three years old and has already been diagnosed with two separate brain tumours.
On 21st September, he is due to begin another course of chemotherapy.
Not for a few weeks.
Not for a couple of months.
Oliver will receive chemotherapy once a week for the next 12 months.
Every single week.
Nurses will also visit him weekly to take bloods, and every three months he will undergo MRI scans so doctors can continue monitoring his condition.
But that’s not all this little boy is dealing with.
Oliver has mobility difficulties.
His vision is impaired.
He has partial hearing loss and will soon be receiving hearing aids.
He will also need regular eye appointments approximately every two months.
Oliver also has Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), a genetic condition that can cause tumours to develop along nerves and affect different areas of the body.
He will require further surgery, but because of everything his body is already going through and the cancer treatment ahead of him, doctors believe it is best to delay that operation for now.

❤️ AND THEN THERE’S HIS TWIN SISTER, MIA
While Sarah is trying to support Oliver through chemotherapy and everything that comes with it, Oliver’s twin sister Mia is facing her own frightening medical journey.
Mia also has Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1).
She is currently waiting for a CT scan as doctors prepare for her operation.
Sarah will have a video appointment with Mia’s surgical team, and the family will need to travel to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for further appointments.
And ultimately, for Mia’s operation.
Mia’s surgery will involve her skull and eye.
Words that no parent ever expects to hear when talking about their three-year-old daughter.
Mia will also require regular eye appointments approximately every two months as doctors continue to monitor her.
So while one twin prepares for a year of chemotherapy…
The other is waiting for major surgery.
And somehow, their mum Sarah has to keep everything going.

❤️ THIS IS SARAH’S REALITY
Behind every hospital appointment, every scan and every treatment is a mum.
A mum sitting in waiting rooms.
A mum travelling backwards and forwards to hospitals.
A mum listening to doctors explain procedures she wishes her children never had to experience.
A mum comforting one child while worrying about the other.
A mum trying to smile for her three-year-olds when inside she must be terrified.
Sarah is currently unable to work because of the enormous amount of time required to care for Oliver and Mia.
And the next 12 months alone will involve an extraordinary number of appointments and treatments.
Weekly chemotherapy for Oliver.
Weekly blood tests.
MRI scans every three months.
Regular eye appointments for both twins.
Hearing appointments and hearing aids for Oliver.
CT scans and surgical consultations for Mia.
Trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Mia’s operation.
And eventually, when doctors believe the time is right…
Oliver’s surgery too.
That’s before you even think about the travelling.
Fuel.
Train fares.
Parking.
Food while sitting in hospitals.
Potential accommodation.
Household bills.
And all the ordinary expenses of raising two young children that don’t suddenly disappear because your world has been turned upside down.
Sarah’s job right now is being there for Oliver and Mia.
We want to help make sure she can concentrate on doing exactly that.

❤️ HOW WE MET THIS INCREDIBLE FAMILY
I first had the pleasure of meeting Oliver, Mia and Sarah when they came to Skegness for a much-needed family break.
After hearing just a little of what this family was going through, we knew we wanted to do something.
Through Taxis Skegness Lincs Coast, we started providing the family with free transport during their stay.
Then, with the help of some absolutely incredible local businesses, we were able to give them something else.
A proper day out.
A day where Sarah didn’t have to worry about taxi fares or how they were getting from one place to another.
A day where hopefully, just for a few precious hours, words like chemotherapy, tumours, scans and operations weren’t at the front of their minds.
A day where Oliver wasn’t simply a little boy with two brain tumours.
Where Mia wasn’t a little girl waiting for surgery.
And where Sarah wasn’t a mum trying to hold everything together.
They were simply a mum and her two three-year-olds having fun together.
And that’s exactly how it should be. ❤️

❤️ THEN SOMETHING INCREDIBLE HAPPENED
When we shared Oliver, Mia and Sarah’s story, we hoped a few people might read it.
We could never have imagined the response.
The kindness shown towards this family has been absolutely overwhelming.
People who have never met Oliver.
Never met Mia.
Never met Sarah.
Yet after reading their story, they wanted to help.
And that’s why this GoFundMe now exists.
Because so many people have asked:
“What can we do?”
This is something we can do.

❤️ WHAT WILL YOUR DONATION DO?
Unfortunately, there are some things money simply cannot fix.
We can’t take away Oliver’s tumours.
We can’t sit through chemotherapy in his place.
We can’t undergo Mia’s operation for her.
And we can’t remove the fear Sarah must experience every time another hospital letter arrives or another appointment appears on the calendar.
But we CAN take away some of the financial pressure surrounding them.
The money raised will be there to help Sarah and the twins through the difficult months ahead.
To help towards travel to hospitals and Great Ormond Street.
Parking and transport.
Accommodation if required.
Food and expenses during hospital visits.
Everyday household costs while Sarah is unable to work.
And hopefully, occasionally, something that has absolutely nothing to do with hospitals.
A day out.
A treat.
A memory.
Something that allows two little children to forget about being patients and simply enjoy being Oliver and Mia.

That’s the part we keep coming back to.
Oliver is three.
Mia is three.
Two little twins who should have their entire childhood ahead of them without knowing what chemotherapy rooms, MRI scanners and operating theatres look like.
We can’t change the cards this family has been dealt.
But perhaps together, we can change how they have to face them.
We can help Sarah concentrate on being Mum rather than worrying about how she’s going to manage the next expense.
We can help with those long journeys to hospital.
We can help make the difficult days slightly easier.
And hopefully, amongst all the appointments, treatment and worry, we can help give Oliver and Mia more opportunities to do the one thing every three-year-old deserves to do.
