Funding for a second CV19 testing machine
Following the suggestions during Mrs Price's Q&A sessions, and a generous and rapid response of pledges from a number of parents, the Parents Association (BSPA) are now looking to raise the additional money to buy a second Covid19 testing machine for the school to double the testing capacity.
The target for this fund raising is £42,000 which is the cost of the machine. We would like to do this by 12th October which should mean that the machine has been installed and is operational for the second half of term, but clearly the quicker we can do this, the quicker our daughters benefit...
If we raise in excess of this amount, the money can be put towards additional tests which are £60 for each cartridge (test). The school originally bought one machine and 1000 cartridges (tests) at a total cost of £112,000.
The machine can perform a test in about 90 minutes and is one of the leading machines on the market, and is a spin off from Cambridge University and is supported by the Wellcome Trust amongst others.
It is state of the art and has already played a critical role this term in helping identify and control the outbreak at school.
A second machine will allow the school to further reduce the risk for our children and local community through increased testing capacity.
