My Volunteer Trip to Jamaica

Hey Guys!
In July 2018, as a part of the Lacrosse Volunteer Corps, I will be traveling to Jamaica. Lacrosse has been one of the biggest factors in my life over the past seven years, and this is a big opportunity for me to give back to the sport that has done so much for me.
During my time in Jamaica I will be serving as a volunteer coach to young players while staying at St. George's Jesuit College. Aside from coaching lacrosse, I will also be participating in service activities that will benefit people in need.
On my first full day in Jamaica, we will be delivering care packages to elderly shut-ins before participating in sports activities with the local community. For the next three days, we will be coaching both youth and high school players during the morning, while participating in various service and community activities in the afternoon. Our lacrosse activities end with a friendly campers vs. volunteers game on our fifth day.
As well as this trip being a fantastic service opportunity, it will allow me to be engulfed by Jamaican culture and learn about multiple cultural, political, and socio-economic topics.
The total cost of this trip for me is $2,100, which covers airfare, room and board, ground transport, service and cultural activities, food, and emergency health insurance. All extra money raised will go towards buying lacrosse gear for the kids I will be coaching in Jamaica. In addition to the clothes and gear I will be packing for myself, I hope to bring as many donation items as I can to help the lacrosse players of Jamaica as much as possible. o Lacrosse Balls
o Men’s equipment: Helmets & gloves are the main priority, then elbow pads
o Yellow Flags and Whistles for Officials
o Stick kit items (Athletic tape, old mesh pockets, sidewall string etc.)
o Jock Straps with Athletic Cups
o Lacrosse DVDs and Game film (Men’s and Women’s)
o Lacrosse Rule Books
o Lacrosse Magazines and books
o Children’s books
o Office & School Supplies
o Basic First Aid Supplies
o Lacrosse gear/clothing
o Cleats/Children’s Shoes/Sneakers
o Deflated soccer balls, basketballs, volleyballs, rugby balls, frisbees
I am so grateful for all the love and support I have received in my lifetime, and my goal is to share this love with the Jamaican lacrosse community. I can't describe how happy I am to go on this adventure next summer, so thank you for all of your support!
