6 Time CANCER victim - Kelli

You would never know it to look at her but Kelli has cancer for the sixth time. She’s vibrant, beautiful and one of the kindest people you could ever meet. Tragically, she has cancer yet again. This time on her jawbone and a tumor under her chin. The current plan is to remove her jaw and replace/rebuild it with a bone taken from her lower leg on Feb. 16, 2018. The tumor will also be taken out then.
Needless to say, she will be unable to work for some time and will have NO income at all.
She is a nonsmoker, nondrinker, and is very conscious of what she eats. We recently discovered that she has a genetic condition called MAP which is the cause of the recurring tumors.
When she was 27, she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma which is a form of skin cancer that can occur in the mouth or digestive tract. Kelli’s involved the right side her tongue. Around 20% of her tongue was removed and followed by 36 radiation treatments. She was fine for 9 years. At 36, she had colon cancer. The mass and 9" on either side of it was removed and she had 6 months of chemo. Almost 8 years later, squamous cell was discovered on the other side of her tongue and was removed. There was no radiation follow up because 36 treatments is the lifetime limit and she had all of it the first time. Since then, she has had tissue under her tongue and the latest was removal of the saliva glands on the right side under her chin. This was followers by 30 proton radiation plus 3 rounds of triple chemotherapy which wrought havoc with her body.
During the radiation and the chemo therapy, she drove herself to the treatments and would immediately go back to work the same day. She has a small, one person hair salon and working by herself, if she does not work, she has NO income. Through all of this, she has been cheerful and smiling to her customers and everyone she meets..in fact her doctors have stated that her attitude is a lot of why she’s a survivor.
