Hi! My name is Maddie and I am a 21 year old full time student. I currently work two jobs while taking all my classes online; as you can guess I am on a tight budget. I have always enjoyed volunteering in my community and teaching ballet allowed me to develop a love for working with youth. For three years I have been fortunate enough to work as a nanny and enrich my life with wonderful people. Working as a nanny has inspired me to work with kids in any way possible and in addition to my passion for youth, I love to travel! I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Norway with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Being a part of Rotary has streangthened my understanding of community and what it means to give back. It has long been a dream of mine to volunteer in a foreign country and when I looked into international volunteer programs, Madagascar stood out.
Who Will Benefit?
I hope to bring everything I can offer to the local people and I hope to learn from them aswell;Immersing myself in an experience that will be eternily rewarding.
I plan to volunteer through International Volunteer HQ for the duration of August 2018 with the teaching program! My primary job will be teaching english lessons to Malagasy children. I believe that international volunteer work is essential in creating better understanding and tolerence among all cultures. I guess in a way I hope to further the agenda of World Peace. Working with young eager minds is one of the most rewarding things I think a person can do and I have learned the most in situations where I am meant to be the teacher.

Any help I can get to further fund my volunteer trip would be immensly appreciated! All funds will be used to pay my program fees which total to about $1100. I don't know that there will ever be a time in my life that I can just go to Africa for a month to volunteer so this oppurtunity feels like one in a million.
