My Social Work Trip to Haiti
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
My name is Lauren Carson. I am currently attending Tulane University School of Social Work and will be graduating with my masters degree this December. In early September I will be flying to Grand Goave, Haiti, where I will be interning at an orphanage for three months. The orphanage is honorably named Be Like Brit.
Britney Gengel was a sophomore at Lynn University when she traveled to Haiti in January 2010. She was working for an aide group with other Lynn University students. While there, she sent a text message to her mother describing her dream to return to Haiti one day to open an orphanage of her own. Three hours later a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake forever changed Haiti, leaving hundreds of children homeless and alone. Britney, 3 fellow students, and 2 professors lost their lives that tragic day. Len and Cherylann Gengel, Britney's parents, have kept her dream alive by developing, organizing, and building Be Like Brit. This orphanage is making a positive, sustaining difference, providing life saving nourishment and a loving environment for children of Haiti.

My internship will be an emotionally astounding, life altering experience. The estimated cost for me is $4,000. Apart from this expense I would love to give a contribution of $500 to Be Like Brit. I can do this with your help. I am asking anyone who is able, to contribute a small donation in support of me, the children, and Britney.
Thank you so much for your kindness, caring, and support. You have my most sincere gratitude.
