Our Friend Brian Hingston

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

It has now been seven months since we lost Brian and in that time we have seen so much love and support directed to his family. There have been many hard days and many tears, but also during this time we have managed to smile and laugh together and remember the great man that Brian Hingston was and the hero he continues to be.

We are very appreciative of the overwhelming generosity of family members, friends, co-workers and strangers who reached out to help Tammy, Wil, Colin and Sadie in their time of need. It showed them Brian’s tremendous impact on all those people that he came in contact with in his all too short life. It was been heartwarming to them that so many people care about them and, more importantly, thought so much of Brian to want to help his family.

Most recently, on November 12, over 100 adults and more than 30 kids participated in the Spartan Race at Fenway Park to honor his memory, while once again helping his family. Team “The Gentleman” took to the field on a brisk day wearing the hearts on their sleeves and making sure that his name was heard and seen throughout that park! It was a day many of us will never forget. Also, as you know, Brian was an organ donor. Tammy was updated by the New England Organ Bank on the progress of Brian’s recipients. He saved five strangers through his selfless act of organ donation and lives on through those he gave new life to. Details on each recipient are attached.

As the days and months have passed, people have continued to ask how they can help and there are two ways. Donations are still being accepted on this page or you can also send checks to: The Hingston Children Education Fund, c/o Boston Firefighter Credit Union, 60 Hallet St., Dorchester, MA 02124.

We cannot thank you all enough for your friendship and support. Please continue to keep Brian and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

***********************************************************Hi My name is Kerry Martin and I'm writing this on behalf of my friend and colleague, Brian Hingston. A good man in what should be the middle of his life, who has a loving wife (Tammy) and three young children (Wil 14, Colin 12, Sadie 8); he would give anything not to leave them. He’s too good a person for this  world to lose. Needless to say, the Hingston family is devastated and in shock over the loss of Brian. A true gentleman, who never stopped caring about others.

It is said that the truest measure of a person is in the impact they have had on the world and on those around them, and I agree wholeheartedly. Brian unselfishly donated his organs, savings six lives.

There is so much to be grateful for everyday. We all face challenges along the way both personally and professionally. We can become consumed by all the noise around us, and in an era of social media this seems to be growing exponentially. I am not sure it’s a good thing but it is a fact. So, in honor of Brian, take time to celebrate life, forget the noise and think about the things you really value and that are important to you. He'd want us to count our blessings- that we continue to live in a great country, are in good health and that we are blessed with a wonderful family, friends and colleagues.

There is nothing we can do to take away the sorrow, pain and loss from those that loved him. So many have reached out asking to donate, that we are setting up this page. The money collected here will go to his children.

Finally, it has been, and continues to be, an honor and a privilege to be Brian's friend.

Thank you for reading. Every little bit helps.
