BC COVID-19 3D Printed Face Shields and Ear Savers

Spende geschützt

To date, we have delivered over 25,000 units at zero cost to over 25 hospitals
and numerous smaller organizations. Our production rate is now over 5,000 units per day.

Our goal is to continue to produce for as long as our services are needed. However, we do need your help to continue this incredibly productive effort as we move into larger scale production and delivery of items.

We now have over 600 volunteers and it's only been a couple of weeks. We are proud of how much we have accomplished with our group in a very short period of time. Our volunteers are incredibly dedicated and we believe we have already made a tangible impact in the fight against COVID-19; but, we can do more with your help.

We are extremely grateful for any contributions that you may be able to offer, and even if you can’t provide anything monetary, please know that sharing this would also go a long way.

At this time, our major expenses include:

1) Materials
2) Packaging supplies
3) Cleaning supplies
4) Shipping costs
5) Gas for our in-house couriers

What can we do to solve the shortage of personal protective equipment for our front line workers?

By gathering a diverse group of people together, we started to create the solution to this problem. Now we need your help!

Our story started by connecting people from all over Greater Vancouver who had access to 3D printers and we started printing Face Shields that could be given to our health care workers. These Face Shields provide a clear physical barrier that is an additional level of protection for front line workers.

From Face Shields we then moved onto also producing "Ear Savers." You might not know what these are but imagine having to wear a face mask all day long for multiple days in a row. The elastic band will start digging into the back of our ears. These "Ear Savers" help release the strain on our ears especially when masks are worn for many hours.

We've also produced several batches of custom requests, varying from respirator grills to snorkel mask filter adapters. Given the nature of 3D printing, the group has been able to adapt quite quickly to designs that improve upon the existing models and quickly provide solutions to unusual problems.

And that is how the BC COVID-19 3D Printing Group got started.

We are a diverse group of individuals working to donate as much personal protective equipment as possible to Canada's exceptional health care workers, essential service personnel, and community organizations. Everyone working on this project has and will continue to do so completely on their own time, solely in the hopes that we can make a difference in the fight that we're all unwilling participants in. We are proud to count members in Alberta and Ontario as part of the group.

In order for us to accomplish what we have to date we've had extraordinary donations and contributions from:

Coho Commissary
Cypress Solutions
LNG Studios
MG Chemicals
Pacific Bindery Services
Rain City Games
R&M Trade Laminating
Staples
Vancouver Hack Space
