#50-5-5; 3D Print COVID-19 Faceshields

Healthcare workers are facing a severe shortage of protective equipment as they deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. For $50 you can protect 5 healthcare workers for 5 days. #50-5-5. We have set ourselves an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 to protect ONE THOUSAND HEALTH CARE WORKERS.

I am Aditya Indla, a Sophomore at Bellarmine College Prep. I have partnered with Bellarmine Maker Lab, Empowering Youth Action, a student organization founded by Bellarmine Students, Aneesh Sharma, a researcher at UC Berkeley and Maker Nexus, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, to deliver HOSPITAL VALIDATED MEDICAL FACE SHIELDS to the healthcare workers in need of PPE. With dwindling PPE supplies, Maker Nexus is rallying a diverse set of volunteers with 3D printers at home to print these face shields.

Bellarmine’s Maker Lab, under the direction of science faculty member David Dutton, is running production and delivering face shield parts to Maker Nexus, with all social distancing protocols in place.

The face shields cost $10 each to manufacture and last up to 5 days with multiple sanitizations.  As of 4/2/2020 Maker Nexus has over 12,000 Shields requested. Maker Nexus is working hard to source supplies for volunteer makers and your donations allow them to buy the supplies in bulk.
