Emergency Rental Help

Hi my name is Shayla and I am fundraising for emergency rental help.

Last year in October of 2022 I, along with half of my team, was let go from the company I worked at. I was able to collect unemployment for a little bit while I looked for something else. I ended up working two new jobs around the same time starting in June of this year, however one of those jobs I ended up losing as the location shut down for good. I have been looking for another job since, and in the meantime my rent has started to build up. I am currently working part time at a dealership right now, and almost 100% of my weekly checks go towards rent. I say almost because I still need to get groceries, dog food, and pay down my Xcel bill as well. It feels like no matter how much I pay towards getting caught up with rent, the amount stays large due to the late fees I incur for paying so late.

I have a one year lease with the apartments I stay at, and they are some of the cheapest places to live right now. However, if I do not get my balance paid in full by the end of December, I will not be able to renew my lease and will have to move out come January (not by choice).

In an attempt to get the rent money, I have started selling short stories that I have written via digital copies, and am offering commissions to write anything a person can think of as well - just an attempt at turning my passion into a side hustle to get caught up on things. I didn’t want to outright ask people for money, but at this point I really am desperate at this point, however, and am extremely scared and worried about what’s going to happen to me and my two dogs if I cannot get caught up.
