Peace and Plenty Food Outreach for Huntington

Help Us Feed Our Hungry Neighbors

Founded in 2006, Peace & Plenty prepares and delivers sandwiches, fresh bread, baked goods, and fruit every week to our neighbors in need throughout the Huntington community. Because hunger is closer than you think. One in six of our neighbors faces food insecurity year-round. Many are children in families that are struggling financially, or seniors, choosing between groceries, heat or medications.

Volunteers from the Congregational Church of Huntington meet each week to prepare meals at Temple Beth El’s Board of Health certified kitchen. The program has so far distributed over 100,000 meals and presently delivers to Paumanok Village in Greenlawn and the Tri-Community and Youth Agency of Huntington Station.

Many ask to take extra sandwiches home and we are grateful that we can do this. The food also helps many people living without a kitchen get proper nutrition. Peace and Plenty is run completely by volunteers. Fresh bread and baked goods are generously donated each week by Copenhagen Bakery in Northport. Overall, it costs $5000/year for supplies. With this we can provide 5000 meals. All the money collected in this fund goes directly to buying food for this program.
