Where to start..... Well my name is Megan I am 27 years old. I met my husband Ryan when I was 21 and he was 22. I was a teacher at Tutor Time and his 3 year old daughter, Amelia, was in my class. I had 2 daughters of my own and we were both newly divorced. Ryan asked me and my girls out for a playdate at McDonalds with him and Amelia and we have been inseparable ever since. We got married in 2013 and it has defenitly been a happily ever after for us and we are so so blessed for that. But it was not easy. My oldest's father was abusive and my other daughters father was not around. He never wanted to be. After 3 years battling in court, we had a huge victory when we were able to get both of their rights severed. Ryan legally adopted my two birth babies June 24, 2015 and has shown them nothing but unconditional love and support. He is seriously the best father I ever could have asked for to my daughters. The whole time we were fighting those battles, we were fighting an even uglier one. Ryan's ex wife (Amelia's birth mother) is an avid drug user. When I came into the picture Ryan and his ex-wife had 50-50 custody over Amelia. At that time Amelia was only three years old and would come home telling us about how her mother was sticking needles into her arm. Amelia would purposely make herself throw up by sticking her finger down her throat because she had watched her birth mother do it. We begged the courts to keep Amelia out of that situation. However, Arizona is a mothers state so they continuously ruled against us. Ryan's ex-wife had another child, from a different man, born addicted to methadone in 2011 which allowed the courts finally see how bad it was. We were granted full custody in 2011. Even though we had full custody Amelia had visitations with her birth mother. Amelia was emotionally being tossed around like a rag doll. Her birth mother would make and break promises. Disappear for months and show up unexpected. Visitation got stopped in 2013 but phone calls, letters, and presents were still allowed. The phone calls were short but very painful for Amelia. Those and the letters were full of more broken promises and set expectations that were completely unrealistic. Through it all, Ryan and I continued to show Amelia love and she persevered. She is now 9 years old and a proud big sister to Saydee(8), Rylie(7), and Sedona(9 months). She is in 4th grade and currently has Straight A's. Amelia is in the National Elementary Honor Society. She is in Honor Choir. She loves to sing and dance. Her smile is bright enough to light the darkest of skies. Last year Amelias birth mother tried to get visitations back and was one week away from being able to see her when she failed another drug test for methamphetamine. That was a devastating event for Amelia. Amelia was so tired of all the pain she was having to endure. She asked me April 10, 2016 to adopt her. Through more Court battles we convinced Ryan's ex to sign a "concent to adopt," which would allow me to adopt Amelia and finally set her free. Now why we are all here.... The only thing stopping this from happening is $$$$ Ryan works full time as a Rock Minor and I run my own in home daycare so we are no stranger to hard work. However, being parents of 4 beautiful (and very expensive) daughters, makes it nearly impossible for us to save enough to cover the adoption and finally set Amelia free. Ryan and I are very prideful people. It makes us feel good to know how tremendously far our hard work has gotten in six years. But this time we need help. So here we are asking for yours. Every cent helps. We are extremely grateful for anything you may be able to do to help. Thank you for your time and generosity.
