Help me raise €3500 for my first voluntary humanitarian clown mission. 1 - 22 August | Thessaloniki
I will volunteer full-time as a clown and language instructor at the so-called Casa Base – a safe space for refugee women, adjacent to a refugee camp in Thessaloniki.
Why am I doing this?
I want to make someone else's world a better place for them.
Unlike many of the women in the camp, mainly from the Middle East and Africa, I have been privileged and lucky to have had access to education and having lived in peaceful areas.
I believe it should be like this for everyone and I want to contribute my little bit with the skills and expertise I happen to have.
Why is this work so important?
Life in a refugee camp is challenging in ways that are unimaginable to most of us.
People are not allowed to freely leave the place, cannot work, study or enjoy any kind of normal activities such as sports, arts and recreation.
Many of the inhabitants don’t have papers and no perspective to come out in the near future. Many cannot read or write.
Everyone has lost their homes, loved ones and had traumatic experiences.
Everyone deserves support!
Arts and humour are proven to be beneficial for both mental and physical health.
Language skills are vital for surviving in a global world.
In addition, UN experts claim that 130 million girls worldwide are denied their basic human right for education and thus for personal development and opportunities for a better life.

You are donating directly to me so I can cover my expenses for this voluntary mission.

What is Casa Base?
A safe space reserved exclusively for female camp inhabitants and up to 5 year olds.
It provides sustainable and long term support for women and children providing an enriching environment for personal development, education, recreation, sports and fun.
Casa Base operates since 2016 as a part of the Italian NGO QRT - Quick Response Team.
