This GoFundMe was created to support Roxanne, Jessie, Sara, Thara and other family members. Many of you know that the Clark family is facing some very hard times right now. If you know Roxanne and her daughters, you also know they are VERY beautiful, strong, and independent individuals. They will probably not want this account active, because they believe so strongly in supporting their own, which is one reason I love them all so much. However, as a family friend who is rather close to them, I feel the need to get this out there.
Roxanne has been in ICU at Swedish Cherry Hill Campus since April 19th, where some of the best neurological surgeons are located. When Jessie and Sara could tell that something was a little off, they immediately got her to the hospital, where they found several aneurysms, one which had burst. We all know when an aneurysm bursts, the results are often for the worst, but Roxanne is a fighter and hasn't stopped fighting. Open brain surgery was performed to address the major ones, but this was only the beginning. She still has 3 more that need to be addressed and can burst at any time. She also had another surgery on April 28th to address several threatening blood clots. It has been a long week for the family, and they seem to have a very long road ahead of them.
Further details aren't neccesary, but what is neccesary is the help and support from the people who love them. They have all been staying at the hospital non-stop, they have been missing work, and ultimately they have been exterting so much energy staying positive and supporting eachother. Roxanne basically housed and was there for all of Jessie and Thara's crazy friends throughout high school, me being one of them. I also watched her be the iconic example of a 'strong single-mother', and never once did I have a doubt about the love she had for her daughters (and believe it or not, she even had some love leftover for me!). This is a time all of us can come together and help 'pay her back' for putting up with us all these years. I also know they have a lot of family support, and family is what keeps us strong.
I'm not saying one family deserves help over another, but I do STRONGLY believe that helping this family benefits everyone they know. I mean, Jessie got her phone STOLEN from ICU, and still manages to keep her head held high. Sara does everything, and still does more, while taking care of a beautiful baby girl. Thara has never left their side, and never will. This family is an inspiration to all of us, and as families do, we should come together and help them.
Staying in ICU can easily be over $1000 a day and missing a lot of work can take its toll. We should all work together and give what we can to the Clark family. I know they wouldn't make one of these, because they are independent and a bit stubborn (that's why we love them!), but they deserve one of these.
Please help and support them in whatever way you can. All proceeds will go directly to the Clark family, so let's raise what we can, and be the best we can be.
Latest update from Jessie: 'we aren't out of the woods yet. Everyday is a struggle where we don't know what complications can arise. My mom still has three aneurysms that could rupture at anytime after having open brain surgery to remove three. taking a day off work isn't a vacation it is spending morning to night in a hospital room with someone who most of the time doesn't recognize you, who's speech is slurred, who consistently tries to escape their hospital bed, who you've had to physically restrain on multiple occasions. Every goodbye feeling like it could be your last because who knows what could happen tomorrow. It's been a full week of stress and tears and an overwhelming urge to shut out everyone. It's not knowing not only if, but at what capacity our mom is going to make it out of this. It's finding out that on top of her aneurysms she now has seven blood clots and they dont know why. it's knowing she's at a very high risk of having a stroke. Everyday is just as stressful as day one, so if we're ignoring you or our feelings are hurt by you it's because for seven days we've barely slept, we've been under constant stress, our eating habits have been dysfunctional at best, and we can only concentrate on each other. My sisters are my top priority and they mean the world to me.'
