Bianca’s Education

My career goals after I graduate from the University of Chicago (U of C) with my Masters in Social Work is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. With this prestigious degree, I can take what I have learned and bring it to my community. I plan to create a non-profit organization and hopefully one day have my Latina owned, bi-lingual private practice. Throughout my years I have gained experience in the non-profit world, and I love it! From participating in service trips during my four years of Undergraduate school, to building a home for a family in Belize, and from helping medical professionals provide free health care appointments to those living in poverty, to living on the streets of San Francisco to be in solidarity and in reflection with people experiencing homelessness. It is these experiences that make me thrive in life and help me find our common humanity. It is these experiences that encourage me to take this path of working with people in the margins of our beautiful society.  


Saying this, I will need your help to make this dream a reality. I want to provide total transparency as well as my school’s website listing fees for reassurance that your monies will be going to these numbers provided below. Also, I was awarded $15,000 PER YEAR because of my academic performance at U of C and I will have to maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout my two years in order to keep this scholarship. I also want to make clear to donors that I filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and I am still waiting for more information regarding what monies will be awarded to me. As soon as I am informed, I will update this post with the monies granted towards my education from FAFSA.

My tuition for 2020- 2021 for Master of Arts Program in Social Work and Social Welfare (SW)

Full- Time Masters Program (3 courses)


I will be completing 3 courses per quarter (since I have decided to be Full-Time) which is $16,578 per quarter OR in other words $49,734 per year.


Given the numbers above, my annual tuition equals $34,734 (per year) for my Masters program.   Again, this is not including FAFSA, however, I will for sure update upon my FAFSA 2020-21 Award Letter arrival! I am fundraising $17,367(half) to cover the financial gap that I anticipate. Let’s make these two years strong and mighty, together!


These amounts do not include books or other necessities for completion of this degree. I only ask that I receive assistance for my graduate courses and I am currently looking further into options I have for a borrowed laptop/ computer and rented books however I do not mind you reaching out to me personally and/ or are willing to donate towards a device of some sort or with books!

I plan to pay-it-forward as soon as I am stable after receiving my Masters by helping other students pursue their higher education! I promise to get As and give back to my community, city, and country with each decision I make. I promise to participate in community outreach, meeting each person where they are at, and provide a listening ear! I hope to provide safe drawing and painting lessons as a side goal to help people with expressing themselves and to relieve stress. I hope to hear from you and connect as much as possible!
