Star United Drum Line 2013

Hello Friends,
In 2008 the Star of Indiana Alumni organization began working on an Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps to perform at the 2010 DCI semi-finals. This reunion performance featured over two hundred former Star of Indiana members playing charts from the years the corps competed.
After drumming at a high-level once again and reuniting with friends that are more like family, some of us thought, Let's do this more! So we searched for small ensemble competition opportunities for "mature" drummers (there's an oxymoron!) and decided to compete in Drum Corps Associates' (DCA) solo and ensemble competition. We wrote a show, practiced like the "good old days", and competed at DCA in 2011. We decided that one year wasn't enough and competed again in 2012 as the Star United Drum Line.
So, here we are in year three of this journey. The drum line has grown to include former members of The Star of Indiana, Cavaliers, Blue Devils, Glassmen, Troopers, Blue Star, and Pioneer. We have a core group committed to keeping this going, and we are moving to the next level. In addition to competing at DCA 2013, we plan on expanding our competition and performance schedule and giving clinics for high school musicians. This year our solo will be a tribute to our instructors and mentors Dennis DeLucia and Robert Dubinski.
This entire time, we have borrowed equipment. We are very thankful to the people who have helped us so far, but this, my friends, is where you come in. WE NEED OUR OWN DRUMS! We are launching this project to purchase our own equipment in order to expand from DCA into clinics, schools, and more. Our goal is to raise $6,500 to buy used drums from Yamaha, who stepped up with a great deal and is holding the equipment.
Any contribution that you make will allow us to continue to perform with world class musicians and to pay-forward the wonderful experience of drumming for years to come.
