Positive Living for the HIV Positive

I am raising money for my charity, Community Light Programme (CLP), which is a Kenyan based organization that focuses on community development especially in the HIV population. We have partnered with Daystar University in Nairobi and receive volunteers from all over the world, including: Japan, Sweden, and Brazil. Through the energy of volunteers, coupled with kind donations, we have already been able to rent land for implementing a sustainable farm which is ran and managed by HIV women and children, take young kids on field trips to experience a rare day of fun, sponsor the education of seventeen orphaned or low income students, provide endless medical education as well as aid people with various needs like transportation to and from hospitals, access to health care, money for lab tests, and sometimes, funerals.

During my upcoming trip back to the Mombasa area I am hoping to purchase our own farm land partially paid for by grant money won through an IUPUI competition; help implement an after-school homework club; take street and orphaned kids on field trips; provide public health classes to the community; distribute donated wristwatches to HIV children and educate them on the importance of adhering to their medication schedule; and finally, establish CLP as a non-for-profit organization.
