Cooper is my beautiful nephew who was born with a rare genetic disorder – a partial chromosome deletion. This disorder has affected Coop in every way. The symptoms of this disorder can be intellectual impairment, sensory processing disorder, poor feeding, autism spectrum to name a few. As it’s a rare deletion there is very little known so life is a bit of a lucky dip at present.
Coop is a happy, loving 4 year old who is obsessed with Octonauts and baths! Unlike many typical boys his age he is yet to walk, talk or feed orally. And as if that wasn’t enough to deal with Coop started having seizures in May which has further impacted his development.
Nothing has come easy for Coop and he has worked extremely hard along with his mum and dad to reach each milestone achieved to date.
The family was introduced to the Neurological And Physical Abilitation Centre (NAPA) through a friend of a friend. Matt & Jo believe Coop would not be where he is today without their intensive programs. Fortunately for them NAPA opened a Sydney facility earlier this year making attending intensives so much easier. These intensives offer physiotherapy, OT, feeding and speech.
Coop lacks motivation to continue with his exercises at home and needs to be pushed and that's where NAPA comes in. Ideally Coop needs to do 4 of these intensives a year. Each intensive costs $10,500. As Coop has no formal diagnosis the family have been unable to receive any type of government funding. They are likely to get picked up by the NDIS this year or early next year but that would only cover 1 intensive.
I have decided to set this page up to help the family with 1 or 2 intensives if possible – dream big I say!!

Coop has the most dedicated and amazing parents who do absolutely everything they can to make sure Coop receives every opportunity to be the best he can be.
