Civic Association Legal Fund

The Civic Executive Board of WH has commission legal services to stop a 90-acre Industrial Park to be built in our community. We need your help with the legal fund.

Wheatley Heights is a Hamlet of the Town of Babylon located between Dix Hills, Melville, Deer Park and Wyandanch. Its rich history, diversity, and loving neighbors has been recognized as a hidden gem by Newsday real estate and a highly sought out investment for its cultural activities, nationally ranked school district, increasing home values, and dedicated homeowners to enrich its overall community.

Home of several summer camps including USDAN Music / Arts and Henry Kaufman as well as one of Long Island only Zip lining park at Adventure Park, Wheatley Heights offers families and children boundless opportunities during the summer and academic school year.

As its popularity on Long Island grows, several organizations have tapped open land areas in Wheatley Heights for business ventures. Pinelawn Cemetery several years ago, portioned off several acres of is sizable property to build/maintain a Golf course which adds value to the community. Its next business venture is to build a 90-acre Industrial Park with the following specs:

Up to 9 Warehouse buildings
Over 100 Truck Bays
The structures will be within 230 feet of its closet home
Both entrances of this mega project will on Little East Neck Road which is only one (1) lane going north and south. Due to train tracks, cemetery, and private homes no other entrances are possible.
The Wheatley Heights/Dix Hills Civic association on several occasions have met with the Pinelawn Group to express their concerns on

Additional traffic with 18-Wheeler Trucks in and out of the community.
New Amazon facility being built and commissioned in 2022 that will also increase traffic in the area within a ½ Mile from this location.
Two Summer Camp and Zip Lining camp just north of this location and ½ mile away.
High School/Middle School just across the Train Tracks
Environment impact of garbage, waste, cesspools.
Completion of the MTA Long Railroad Double Track program which has increase train services which requires crossings in the area to be extended backing up traffic.
The families of Wheatley Heights need your help. The Civic Executive Board has discussed and approved to commission legal services to fight this project. It doesn’t fit within this Hidden Gem and only burdens taxpayers with extended travel times moving around the community, increased safety concerns, and the eventual air quality having that many trucks near homes. The infrastructure was never designed to handle this type of project. 100 percent of Donations received will be used for legal purposes for lawyers and traffic experts to represent the honest hard-working families.
