Jack Tar's Journey with Aplastic Anemia :
A week before Jack's 7th birthday, when his time should have been spent in wishful anticipation of birthday cake, superhero toys and Legos, he was getting blood transfusions. He was later diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia- a rare form of bone marrow failure. He still had a wonderful birthday with his family.

But his summer was spent much the same way, with long car trips to the hospital, transfusions for hemoglobin and allergic reactions to platelets.
He has handled it all with a warrior spirit, explaining to those who would ask that the port in his chest makes him a Cyborg.
His parents ( Cole and Jill) have been told that the best course of treatment is a bone marrow transplant and the closer the match the better the chance of success. All of Jack's siblings volunteered to be tested for bone marrow match
And big brother Max is a perfect match!!!
So now the family will begin the journey through the transplant
The transplant protocol will begin on October 18th. Jack will be in the hospital for 5 days of chemotherapy. He will then be allowed to come home for a few days before returning to Children's hospital to the bone marrow transplant glass isolation room for 4-5 weeks. His transplant will happen on November 9th and then Jack and Jill will live in St. Louis, close to the hospital, until March 2017.
Cole, a Quincy Fireman, will work his firefighter schedule and be home with Ava, Greta, and Max. The family can use your help. Will you join Team Jack Tar?
Let's pull together and get Jack back to this....

And his beautiful, loving family back to this...
