2013 Teaching Mission To Liberia

Greetings friends, family, and potential donors. My name is Troy Merritt and I'm enrolled in Mercer University's Teacher Education program in Atlanta, GA. I have been blessed with the opportunity to participate in an once in a lifetime experience this summer as I and several other teaching candidates will be going to Liberia, Africa to teach at the Rick's Institute from May 25 to June 17. I never thought I'd would have the chance to impact other children in the world with the gift of education. This experience will not only effect the lives of those who I encounter in Liberia, but forever change my life, as I will be able to share this life changing experience with the children I'll be teaching in Atlanta. As rewarding as this Mission will be, it is equally financially challenging. Despite my flight and room and board in Liberia being paid by my school tuition, all other costs, including vaccinations, required items for living conditions, and most importantly, teaching materials, must be handled through personal finances, which is extremely expensive. I am not asking for any specific dollar amount for potential donations because I feel like whatever is in your hearts to give is truly valued and appreciated. All donations will aid myself and others in providing a more fulfilling teaching experience to the children at Ricks Institute.
